October 24, 2011 Prince of Peace is plased to announce that Fr. Michael and Ginger Walsh will be participating in the annual Call To Action conference
in Milwaukee, WI the weekend of November 4th.
Call To Action is a progressive catholic organization formed in the 1970's to educate, inspire and activate
Catholics to act for justice and build inclusive communities through a lens of anti-racism and anti-oppression principles.
Prince of Peace shares the inclusive vision of Call To Action - which includes full inclusion of women priests and the GLBT community. Please keep Ginger and Fr. Michael in your prayers for an exciting
inspiring and informative conference.
August 14, 2011 The Prince of Peace Independent Catholic Community announces open registration for our Fall 2011 "Greek Group".
"Greek Group" uses a relaxed approach to reading the New Testament in the original Greek. No fees, no homework, no long vocabulary lists…
just diving into the Word of God together.
After the very first meeting, you will be reading brief New Testament prayers in the language of the early Christian writers.
Fall 2011: We will be reading, praying and discussing the Lord's Prayer as recorded in Matthew 6:9-13. By Thanksgiving, we will be
praying the Lord's Prayer completely in Greek, with understanding AND with a sense that the English translation is no longer our first choice!
Fall 2011 Greek Group will include brief introductions to New Testament Greek grammar. Our goals are to read with understanding AND to
facilitate discussion about Matthew 6:9-11. (Resources will be provided to those who are interested in a more formal approach to the language.)
Fall 2011 Greek Group meets in Bethpage on seven consecutive Tuesday evenings, from 7:30-9:00pm beginning September 27.
There are no fees for participation or materials. "Greek Group" is a gift to the church from Prince of Peace Independent Catholic Community.
For more information or to register, contact ginger@princeofpeace-li.org or call 631-881-5252 and ask for Michael or Ginger.
June 24, 2011 The Prince of Peace Independent Catholic Community applauds the courage and sense of equality on the part
of Governor Cuomo and the New Your State Legislature after passage of the Marriage Equality bill.
Since it's inception, Prince of Peace has always held the position that two people in a committed relationship should be allowed
to be married, regardless of the gender makeup of the couple. Father Michael and Rev. Maura have been participants in several
events sponsored by both the Human Rights Campaign's Faith and Values Coalition and the Empire State Pride Agenda's Pride in the Pulpit program
to support full equality and inclusion of the GLBT community.
We stand ready to assist and officiate for any couples, gay or straight, who wish to enter into the sacrament of marriage.
August 28, 2010 The Prince of Peace family extends our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters
at Long Island Community Fellowship on the passing of their Pastor, Rev. Dr. G. Shane Hibbs.
Pastor Hibbs worked tirelessly to provide a welcoming church home for Long Island's protestant LGBT members.
May our loving saviour pour out His blessings and Peace on Pastor Hibbs' partner Mark and all the members of LICF.
Prince of Peace will say mass in honour and remembrance of Pastor Hibbs on Sunday September 5, 2010 at 7PM.
